Therapeutic Action of Different classes of Drugs:-

  1. Antacids:- In our stomach HCl acid helps in Digestion of food material. But overproduction of this acid cause irritation and pain and sometime cause peptic-ulcers. So to neutralize this acid, we use some antacid as medicines. Some example of antacids are 3

Sodium bicarbonate→ NaoH+H2CO3→ NaHCO3

Aluminium Hydroxide→  Al(OH)3+Mg(OH)2

                   +

Magnesium Hydroxide → Combined Drug

But in case of hyperacidity, the excess Secretion of pepsin and HCl acid may be due to histamine. In that case several drugs used are Cemetidine, Ranitidine.

  1. Antihistamines:- Histamine is a potent Vasodilator

It contract the smooth muscles in brouchi and gut and relaxes our muscles such as blood vessels. Some common examples of Antihistamines are Brompheniramine, Terfenadine.

  1. Antimicrobials:- These drugs are used treat a number of diseases caused by a verify of micro-organisms. Such as bacteria, fungi, virus, Parasites and for these drugs used are known as Antibacterial, Antifungal, Antiparasites, Respectively. So Antibiotics, Antiseptics and Disinfectants are Antimicrobial Drugs.
  1.  Antibiotics:- The drugs which are used to treat infections because of their low toxicity for humans and animals. It can be defined as a substance which and Animals. It can be defined as a substance which in low concentration inhibits the growth of Microorganism.
  • Prontosil is an antibacterial agent, it’s structure resemble to the salvarsan and then prontosil is converted to the sulphanilamide. Which is very active compound.
  • First antibacterial was discovered by Alexander is Penicillin.

Antibiotics may be  bactericidal or bacteriostatic. Bactericidals, kills the bacteria but bacteriostatic inhibit the further growth of bacteria or micro-organisms.
