Classification of Drugs

1. On the basis of Pharmacological Action:- It is useful for doctors because it provide them a whole range of drugs available for treatment of any disease. e.g. Antibiotic kill the Microorganisms.
2. On the basis of drug action:-It depends upon the biochemical pathway of drugs. e.g Antihistamines Inhibit the action of histamine, which cause Inflammation in the body.
3. On the basis of chemical structure:- Depends upon the structure of different chemicals e.g. Sulphonamides

4. On the basis of molecular targets:- Drug interact with biomolecules like carbohydrates, proteins and fats etc.

There are called target molecule or drug targets. If drug have same structures, then they have same mechanism of action on the targets.
