Thermo chemical Equation
Thermo chemical Equation
Thermo chemical equation which express the amount of heat absorbed or evolved along with the physical state of reactant & product involved in the reaction are called thermo chemical equation.
E.g. C2H5OH (L) + 3O2 (g) → 2CO2 (g) + 3H2O (L)
∆ H = -1367 KJ/mol
Essentials of Thermo chemical Equation are
- It should be balanced.
- The physical state of reactant & product should be mentioned after the chemical formula.
- The element which exhibit allotropy, allotropy forms must be mentioned.
S (Rhombic) + O2 (g) → SO2 (g) + 29.7.4 KJ
S (Monoclinic) + O2 (g) → SO2 (g) + 299.9 KJ
According to latest convention, the heat absorbed or evolved should be represented in the form of enthalpy change which should be given a +ve sign for endothermic reaction & -ve sign for exothermic reaction.
