• Passive mineral absorption: absorption of mineral ions without use of metabolic energy. It takes place by diffusion, facilitated diffusion, ion-exchange mechanism, mass flow etc.
• Active absorption: in this, absorption of ions by plant against conc. gradient with the expenditure of energy.

• Initial rapid uptake of ions into apopeast-free surface or outer surface of cells. (passive)
• Ions are taken in igmpeart of cell – inner space of all.

Flux : movement of ions.

Influx : the inward movement of ions into cell.

Efflux : the outward movement of ions from cell.
