Functions of bile:

Bile contain water, mucin, cholesterol, bile salts (sodium glycocholate & sodium tacrocholate, sodium carbonate) & bile pigments green biliverdis & yellow bilirubin).

(1) Neutralizes acid Hcl by sodium carbonate.

(2) Its salts break the large fat droplets into small. (emulsification)

(3) Emulsified fats droplets have more surface area and they get easily digested on enzyme action.

(3) Bile pigments impart yellow colour to feaces and pale yellow to urine.
