Disorders of respiratory system
Disorders of respiratory system:
- Hypoxia: It is a condition of oxygen shortage in the tissues.
Artificial Hypoxia |
Anemic Hypoxia |
It occurs due to oxygen shortage in atmosphere at mountains. |
Occurs due to reduced oxygen carrying capacity of hemoglobin contents in blood or more Co2 in blood. |
- Asthma: It occurs due to the blockage of bronchi and bronchioles by mucus. It occurs when more mucus is secreted due to allergy caused by foreign particles in respiratory system. It causes coughing or difficulty in breathing during expiration. It can be cured by antibiotic therapy, use of bronchi-dilater, drugs etc. (dilaters – cleaning agents).
- Emphysema: It is caused by Cigarette smoking. Here, lungs size goes on increasing due to which alveoli and bronchioles loose elasticity. If we prevent exposure to cigarette smoke and pollutants, then it can be cured.
- Pneumonia: It occurs by inflammation of alveoli of lungs due to streptococcus pneumonia bacteria. More mucus is secreted which blocks the alveoli and cause inflammation. It can be cured by vaccination by antibiotics.
