Blood vessels

Blood vessels:

Blood vessels are elastic and muscular tubes that carry blood in vertebrates. Study of blood vessels is called Angiology.

Arteries: That carry blood from heart to different parts of body.

Veins: That carry blood to heart from different parts of body.

Capillaries: Arteries and veins are joined together by them.

Afferent blood vessels: Vessels that supply blood to an organ.

Efferent blood vessels: Vessels that take blood away from any organ.

Carry blood away from heart to other parts.

Carry blood from other parts to heart.

They carry oxygenated blood except pulmonary artery.

They carry deoxygenated blood except pulmonaryVein.

Blood flows with normal pressure.

Blood flow is very slow.

They have no valves in them.

They have valves in them. Which act as doors to prevent the backflow of blood, so that blood flows only in one direction.

After death, they become empty.

They are filled with blood even after death.
